How To Make The Perfect Instagram Bio
The Perfect Instagram Bio - Is it just another myth or does it really exist?
Instagram, like many other social media platforms, has so many different aspects that you need to get just right for your business in order to maximise the attention that you can capture, along with the number of leads you bring in.
When you’re setting up an Instagram account for your business, one of the first things that you need to look at is the bio.
Why you might ask?
Because your bio is the first thing that people will see when they click on your profile. You only get one chance to make a first impression, so make it a great first impression.

We’re glad you asked. Here are some tips that you can implement today to make the perfect Instagram bio now:
- If you are a personal brand or a coach your profile picture should be an image of you. Yes, you may have the most beautiful logo in the world, but people need to start seeing your face to become familiar with you. If you run an online shop or a clothing brand, then you may want to use your logo as the profile picture.
- Make your @username your actual name or business name. Then use the space where your name should be to let people know what your profession is and add a little something extra in if appropriate. So if you're a business coach and you love dogs, change it to "Business Coach & Dog Lover” The dog lover part makes you immediately relatable. Some people will see your profile name and think YES I love dogs too! So first of all your relatable, which is a great way to start building rapport with your audience, but secondly you've got your profession in there which makes it so much easier to connect with your target market.
- In the bio part where you get to talk about yourself, make this count, but even more, make the first two lines count. Why? Because Instagram will ask the user to click ‘more’ if they want to read the full bio. Therefore your first two lines should entice them to click on the ‘more’ option, whilst giving an insight into who you are and what you do. Get your personality into your bio. This is a chance to really connect with your audience without posting an image, so make it count.
- The link in your bio, now this is extremely important. You can place one link in your bio to drive traffic to so you should choose wisely. Of course, there are websites like LinkTree where you can add multiple links and paste that link into your bio, but we’ll save that for another post. So normally you can only place one link in your bio, choose wisely. If you have a sale on or are running a free challenge or maybe you have a PDF that you want people to download, whatever the thing is that you currently want to send the most traffic to that is the link that should be in your bio.
- Use emoji’s. Emoji’s are fun, eye-catching and relatable because let’s face it, we all have a favourite emoji that we love to use. Use emoji’s in your bio to break it up and to add a splash of colour into your bio and your follower's lives.

Great guide, Blanaid! Too often, I find brands underutilizing the name section of their bio and use it as a place to simply paste their brand name and nothing more. As an example, instead of “KrazySocks” why not “KrazySocks | Fun 4 Your Feet”?
